The project seeks to transform the delivery of Pre-service Teacher Education in Ghana by improving the quality of teaching and learning is a DFID funded project implemented by Mott MacDonald. JMK conducted the panel survey under this project. JMK developed and deployed 10 different sets of tools involving observations, interviews, and games for the interview of children; and utilized them to gather the baseline and the project's progress. JMK also worked in complex partnerships with other partners on the project, including Open University UK, GES and 38 Colleges of Education 630 partner basic schools within 10 regions, including the Greater Accra region. JMK carried out the baseline in 2014, midline in 2016 and endline in 2018.

In undertaking this assignment, JMK:
Developed 10 different sets of tools involving observations, interviews and a “sleeping” game.
Recruited, trained, and managed a team of 40 interviewers and 7 supervisors with appropriate quantitative and qualitative research experience and skills.
Designed and implemented survey protocol, which provided instructions for data collection teams in organizing data collection on the ground and how to conduct ethical and effective interviews.
Designed and piloted the survey instruments.
Set up an electronic data capture (EDC) system using the Open Data Kit (ODK) Collect software which allows the use of android smartphones to collect and transmit data electronically to data server
Collected 2138 interviews with beginning teachers, teacher mentors, teacher mentees, heads of CoE and heads of partner basic schools (both public and private schools)
Carried out data analysis and presentation of findings in various formats, including a slide deck with data visualizations, and a formal written narrative report.
