IDEAS42 is conducting formative research and impact evaluation with the overall aim of assessing the effectiveness of a multi-channel intervention (SKY Girls) to reduce the uptake of tobacco smoking amongst teenage girls (aged 13-19) in Ghana. IDEAS42 engaged JMK to serve as a data collection partner for both qualitative and quantitative data collection.

 

Key Outputs At-a-Glance:

In undertaking this assignment, JMK:

1.       Reviewed data collection tools and provide feedback on contextual relevance, including how the

2.       framing and structure of the questionnaire will affect data collection and coding, quality etc.

3.       Facilitated the process for obtaining IRB approval from the Ministry of Education/Ghana Education Service, Ministry of Health/Ghana Health Service, and the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

4.       Recruited and trained an adequate number of qualified local enumerators and supervisors to conduct data collection exercise (either remote or in-person) in Accra and Kumasi

5.       Developed protocols for auditing implementation fidelity

6.       Mapped all the localities (including schools) in Accra and Kumasi to recruit 5,400 in-school and out-of-school teenage girls who have ever consumed tobacco for the main survey.

7.       Presently conducting a minimum of 4 surveys for 1,350 surveys per data collection period (5,400 surveys in total).

8.       Yet to produce an implementation report
