TASK, the YANMAR consulting arm, engaged JMK Consulting to conduct a market demand study to offer motorized machines to Ghanaian rice farmers and mechanisation service providers within the rice sector. JMK collected data from rice farmers in the target area based on the current situation of holding agricultural machinery, agricultural machinery service utilization, demand for agricultural machinery, and rice milling service provider to enable YANMAR to gauge the demand for farm machinery equipment for rice production and processing.

KEY OUTPUTS AT-A-GLANCE

In undertaking this assignment, JMK:

a) Developed methodology, sampling strategy, timeline, tools and survey implementation protocols.

b) Designed data collection forms using ODK data collection software

c) Delivered a 3-day personnel training of field teams, including field trials of the survey instrument.

d) Collected data from 100 rice farmers and 30 businesses who provide services to rice millers; and produce the study report.

e) Prepared the study report for discussions and presentation on the findings.
